Learn to Mend a Sweater

Have you ever taken your favourite sweater out of the closet only to find that it's full of mysterious little holes? It happens to all of us from time to time, as it is difficult to keep those teeny wool munching m*ths (ahem) out of our homes, even when we are diligent and tidy. Luckily, mending holes in knitwear isn't as difficult as you might think. With the proper tools and technique, it is possible to repair your favourite knitted garments to reinforce and extend their life so you can continue to wear them with confidence.

Robbie Laughlin, knit designer and charismatic instructor will be here on September 7th to teach you how to mend holes and imperfections in your favourite knitwear using visible mending techniques. Techniques covered will include darning knits, basic embroidery stitches, applying visible patches, reinforcing fabrics and decorating the area to create unique pieces.

Bring in your knitted items (please see our Wool Garment Prep Guide below) that you would like to mend, or just come in to observe for one of the following free 1 hour sessions.
Time: Sunday October 6th 2pm

Wool Garment Prep Guide
Before bringing your personal wool garments to class, please make sure garments have been recently thoroughly washed and are free of debris. Place clean and dry garment in microwave and heat in 30 second intervals for a total of 3 minutes. If you don't have a microwave, place garment in a bag and put in your freezer for a minimum of 72 hours.
